I use it because it's easy to use and I don't know how to use OBS.FlashBack Professional is a screen recording application for creating tutorials, demonstrations or training material. There are many other settings to optimize your recording (to hide desktop icons, hide taskbar, change resolution, take notes etc. You can also highlight the cursor or clicks. I don't use the built-in video editor section of the app myself but I have used the other features for screen recording a browser game. FlashBack records the mouse cursor separately, so that you can later decide to include it to the recording or not. It also has a built-in video editor you can use after you finish your recording if you are interested in that too. However, it does not have an option to record with a webcam. It has an audio recording option so that you can record a voiceover or you can mute it if you don't need to record any external audio. You can also adjust the frame size of the recording area so that you can only get the area of your screen that you need to record. It has options to highlight the mouse cursor, enable clicking sounds, or just hide the mouse cursor altogether if you wish to do that. It's free, doesn't have a watermark, and as far as I know, it doesn't have a recording time limit. If you are looking for a very easy to use and free recording software that doesn't need a ton of features, then you can use a software called Free Cam 8. One note, this Atem Mini Pro ISO is 1080p only, no 4k (but nobody wants to watch a 4k computer monitor recorded on YouTube anyway! Way too small). So just open it up in Resolve (free editing software) and you are ready to edit your multicamera recording. The way its saved on the SSD harddrive is in a ready to go Davinci Resolve video editing project. The 4 sources might be 1 comptuer plus 1-2 camera angles for example. The Atem Mini Pro ISO can record 4 separate HDMI sources to an external SSD drive. I currently have the Atem Mini Pro ISO which is a great little box - but definitely not free! But hey this solution is free! (This solution is also OS specific, may not work on all OSes).Īnd last but not least, some people don't want to use software at all! OBS can bog down some computers or interfere with some software, so in my case I use an external HDMI recorder from Black Magic Design. You have to set and unset it in windows settings - not automatic part of OBS. Some people emulate the highlighted mouse by downloading a windows cursor "theme pack" that just has a yellow circle behind all your mouse cursors. There are free screen recording features built into apps like OBS, but they lack that dynamic zooming into the active dialog and the graceful handling of the mouse cursor. Some of the features it has include tracking the mouse cursor, highlighting the mouse and clicks (and making a click noise if you want) and can dynamically zoom into the active window/dialog as you demo something. One of the best software screen recorders is Camtasia.
